Syndicate Rods at Blithfield Reservoir 2025 Terms and Conditions.

 1. Anglers registering at Blithfield Reservoir to fish as Members of F&DAS must hold a full and valid F&DAS Membership card/booklet and provide it as proof of Membership on request. 

2. Our agreement is thus 

- 3 rods per day, 7 days per week during the Season Up to 150 anglers maximum as per list of supplied names 

- Each angler has a 2 fish kill limit, and can fish once per week 

- Each angler is entitled to 8 visits per Season, of which we keep a record 

3. All anglers will need to read and abide by the rules of fly fishing at Blithfield Reservoir. These are available on request but will be provided to all anglers on first registration. 

4. All anglers will need to adhere to the booking-in guidelines which accompany this document. 

5. Anglers are reminded that Blithfield does not permit fishing before 8am and that anglers must leave site within 30 minutes of local sunset time. 

6. Blithfield is a venue for fly fishing for trout only. No other method or target of any other species is permitted. 

7. Blithfield Bailiffs and Employees reserve the right to eject any F&DAS Member who is in breach of our Rules from the Reservoir and we agree to notify the Secretary of F&DAS of any such action. 

8. Blithfield Reservoir is a SSSI and an operational supply Reservoir. ThereforeSouth Staffs Water PLC reserve the right to cancel or suspend any agreement, at any time, for operational or other reasons. We will endeavour to give notice in good time wherever possible, however there may be such occasion where this is not possible. If this happens then we will arrange to refund based on the point in the Season where activity is suspended. 

9. We ask that all Members of F&DAS remain courteous whilst on site and also respect our neighbours when driving to and from the Reservoir. We also ask that no litter or line are left behind. 

10. We politely request that all payments are made by the due date shown on the invoice to allow time for processing prior to the opening date. 

11. The 2025 Season opens on 17th March and closes on 30th November. 

12. We reserve the right to amend or add to these Terms and Conditions where or when required. We will give notice of any intention to do so.

Blithfield Anglers Syndicate Angler Guidelines 2025 

 Booking In – Syndicate Club/Association anglers are required to book their visit by telephone up to 10 days in advance. Bookings can be made by telephone between 8am and 12 noon Monday to Friday. 

The correct number to ring is 01283 840284 and you may need to leave a message to receive a call back. **Please note – we cannot currently accept bookings by email **

On the first visit proof of Syndicate Membership and current EA rod licence will be required and anglers will be asked to register their details with us. They will then be issued with a unique ‘Blithfield’ number which is then used for making future bookings. ***Only one visit per angler, per week is permitted 

On Arrival – If a Syndicate angler is arriving in the morning they must call in to the Angling Office (within the main Estates Office) to sign for their visit and collect a return card prior to angling. If arrival is after 12 noon, the visit will be signed on their behalf by a member of staff and they need to collect their return card from the Duty Bailiff at the Boat House (across the Dam) prior to angling. Fishing without collecting the return card is not permitted. 

During the Visit – Syndicate anglers are asked to respectfully observe the rules and regulations issued by Blithfield Anglers and the Estates Department. Blithfield Reservoir has SSSI status and therefore certain safeguards are in place to protect this status and the wildlife, flora and fauna around the site. Other rules are in place to ensure the health, safety and enjoyment of all visitors. Any issues arising during the day can be reported to or discussed with the Duty Bailiff on 07974 263338. 

Wading - All anglers are reminded that wading deeper than thigh depth is not permitted. Extreme caution must be taken when wading due to deep water and sudden dropping away of shallow banking. During prolonged spells of wet weather banks and tracks can become very muddy and slippery and water levels can rise significantly. Please observe all notices and signs regarding track closures, deep water and other hazards. 

General Rules – A copy of the Abridged Angling Rules and Regulations is available to anyone upon request and copies can be found in the Angling Office. 

-ALL BROWN TROUT & PIKE MUST BE RELEASED UNHARMED. FISHING FOR PIKE IS NOT PERMITTED UNLESS BY PRIOR ARRANGEMENT. ONLY 1 SINGLE HOOK PER FLY PERMITTED 

- Fish must be landed in a suitable landing net and NEVER dragged up the bank. When killing fish to take away a priest must be used to humanely despatch the fish instantly. 

- The use of other items including rocks, bricks or stones is prohibited. 

-  FISHING FOR PIKE IS NOT PERMITTED UNLESS BY PRIOR ARRANGEMENT. 

Any breach of these rules will result in dismissal from the reservoir. 

On Departure – Anglers are asked to cease fishing and leave the site at dusk taking all rubbish with them. Please do not gut fish on site and especially not on the banks. A catch return must be submitted prior to leaving even if an angler has spoken to the Bailiff earlier in the day. These can be left in the small wooden boxes along the banks, in the boxes situated within huts and shelters, at the Boat House in the Returns Box or in the Post Box on the wall outside the Angling Office. Even if no fish are caught a blank or nil return must be submitted. We ask all anglers to respect this request as our stocking policy and rod average figures rely on the returns submitted.
